Katerini

Just before or after Masquerini

Katerini is a city made for strolling: a lively centre full of pedestrian streets, the sea a few minutes away and Mount Olympus on the horizon. If you are staying more than a day, save a little time for a few short stops beyond the events.

On foot

The city centre

Wander the pedestrian streets, Eleftherias Square and the neighbourhoods around them. You will find shops that are a destination for food lovers, cafés, bistros and gastrobars for every taste and, of course, lovely Makedonias Square.

Make time, too, for Katerini’s Metropolitan Park, with its picturesque stone fountains and the many colours that turn it into the “Park of Colours”.

Paralia Katerinis & Olympiaki Akti

For a walk by the sea, head to Paralia Katerinis or Olympiaki Akti. Ideal stops for a coffee, a meal or a quiet sunset.

Food

A taste of Pieria

Save room for local flavours and a table in the centre. During Masquerini, the best plan is to follow the crowd through the pedestrian streets and pick whatever takes your fancy.

If you love a day out and have the time, carnival season brings food destinations in mountain Elatochori, in Korinos, in Svoronos and in many other parts of the Municipality of Katerini.

A small note

Masquerini is the reason to come. Katerini, the sea and Olympus are what comes next.
